You don’t have to be struggling financially to be motivated by lowering the stress and uncertainty brought on by aging. The National Council on Aging (NCOA) reports that there are more than 2,500 programs available to help seniors looking for a quicker route via earned benefits.

You just need to know where to look.

Seniors can look into opportunities and categories like those for prescription pharmaceuticals, health care, income support, food and nutrition, and housing and utilities on BenefitsCheckUp, a website run by NCOA.

Jay Zigmont, a licensed financial advisor and the proprietor of Live, Learn, Plan in Water Valley, Mississippi, says, “Don’t be scared to ask for assistance. You may need help with filing for Medicare, making a budget, cooking meals, or anything else. Just ask. Many seniors are afraid to ask for help until things become really bad. But your friends, family, and neighbors are here and ready to help you in any way they can.

Senior Living provides a database of senior living options, ranging from independent living to hospice-based care.

Feeding America distributes food for seniors by cooperating with a network of food banks across the country.

Retirement Jobs assists seniors in navigating the age discrimination that exists in the workforce as well as finding employers that are a good fit for their skill set and employment needs.

Dental Lifeline Network provides dental care access by collaborating with volunteer dentists and dental labs around the United States.

Meals on Wheels America has sites all over the nation, provides seniors 60 and older with home-cooked, wholesome meals that can be consumed individually or in a communal setting.

AmeriCorps Seniors connects senior volunteers to other elders in need of assistance and company.

National PACE Association offers care in the areas of health, rehabilitation, personal, and other services.

ADA Paratransit supports seniors with limited mobility who qualify for additional transit services
